Donor Stories - Taiwan Alumni Association
"We hope that this support will create an environment where international students can concentrate on their studies and contribute to intercultural exchange and the advancement of academia."
We established the "Kyushu University Taiwan Alumni Association" in Taipei on July 14, 2012. This alumni association is an important place for deepening ties with our alma mater and sharing memories. Each year, we gather around the time of the Lunar New Year and reminisce about our valuable days at Kyushu University.
There has been a long-standing deep exchange between Taiwan and Kyushu. Of the 3,141 graduates of Taipei High School, 227 went on to study at Kyushu University. This historical connection is something we take pride in. Identifying the first exchange student from Taiwan is difficult, but according to information received from the student affairs department in 2010, over 500 students originally from Taiwan have studied at Kyushu University. Among them is Dr. Robert T. Huang (黄徳慈 in Taiwanese), who became a successful entrepreneur in the United States after graduating from Kyushu University.
We were able to support the Tree Donation Project for the Ito Campus of Kyushu University, which started in March 2016. This project aims to beautify the campus environment and support academic activities. We also made donations to support students and research activities affected by the new coronavirus infection.
This time, we decided to make a donation without hesitation upon learning about the various forms of support provided by the Kyushu University Fund. We hope that this support will create an environment where international students can concentrate on their studies and contribute to intercultural exchange and the advancement of academia.
Lastly, we pray for the further development of our alma mater, the good health and success of everyone, especially the hard work of current students.
