International Student Support Program Fund
Establishment of the Kyushu University Fund "International Student Support Program Fund" and Request for Support
Purpose of the Fund Kyushu University aims to become "a university that drives social change through comprehensive knowledge" in its Kyushu University Vision 2030. One of the eight pillars of this vision is "International Collaboration," which states that "through systematic international collaboration, Kyushu University will become a hub of international brain circulation, produce human resources who will become leaders in the international community, and contribute to solving global issues. To achieve this goal, the university aims to "improve living support and the environment for accepting and enrolling international students and researchers" and to accept more than 3,200 international students per year by 2030. In order to attract excellent international students, TUAT has been improving its research and educational environment to enable international students to play an active role, such as by expanding courses that allow students to earn degrees in English. As a result of our efforts to date, we now have approximately 2,600 international students enrolled (as of November 1, 2022), making us one of the largest universities in Japan in terms of accepting international students. In order to accept, train, and send out more excellent international students to Japan and abroad in the future, it is essential to provide an environment where international students can devote themselves to their studies in peace. In particular, new risks surrounding international students have recently emerged due to the worsening international situation and the spread of the new coronavirus infection, making it even more necessary to establish a support system to ensure that international students do not abandon their studies in the event of such unforeseen circumstances. The Fund is designed to support international students so that they will not give up their studies due to financial difficulties or unforeseen circumstances, based on two projects: "Support for International Students to Continue Their Studies" and "Financial Assistance for International Students in Unforeseen Circumstances. In the "Support for International Students to Continue Their Studies," a new scholarship program will be launched to support international students who are motivated and capable and need financial support to continue their studies. In the "Financial Support for International Students in Unforeseen Circumstances," the Fund provides necessary support to international students who have fallen into unforeseen circumstances. In addition, the Fund will be used for other initiatives to enhance the student life of international students. With this fund, Kyushu University will strengthen and expand its support for highly motivated international students who have left their home countries to study in Japan, and will continue to contribute to the international community in the future through the development of outstanding human resources. We hope that you will support the purpose of this project. | |
